Attitude is Everything

You gotta hand it to the Minatare football coaching staff. Their attitude is certainly an admirable one. The Indians are 0-3, but according to the coaches... it's a great 0-3! Despite the scoreboard, that winning attitude seems prevalent around Minatare these days. The parents, alumni and fans were positive and supportive. The coaches showed amazing patience with the mistakes of their young team. I even heard the P.A. Announcer encouraging the kids. If ever a team could say they are in a rebuilding year, the 2011 Indians can lay claim to that one for sure. Seniors Nate Garcia and Richard Mitchell and lone Junior Jorge Montelongo are the only upper classmen on the team. With four sophomores and seven freshmen, 6-man football fans should keep an eye on these guys in the future.Minatare hosted the Hyannis Longhorns in Friday's Homecoming contest. The night was full of spirit and festivities as the fans filed in, which included dozens of MHS Alumni returning to show their support. The team is young and the town is small, but they filled the stands and lined the sidelines for what proved to be a close contest all the way.The game started off slowly as both teams exchanged possession regularly. It was Minatare that caught the first break with 3:55 to go in the 1st quarter when Junior Jorge Montelongo recovered a fumble at the line of scrimmage. However, as was the case most of the night, penalties halted their efforts and the quarter expired with no points scored. 0-0The second quarter was a little more exciting, but only if you were wearing blue and white (or sitting across the field). Hyannis Sophomore Travis Hoover returned a Nate Garcia interception for 6 points with 8:34 to go in the 2nd quarter. Minatare's Javier Guerrero blocked the extra point kick attempt to keep it at 6-0 Hyannis.The determined Indians didn't just set back and relax, however. They came out strong with a drive of their own behind the running of Senior Nate Garcia. (This is the point in the game where the coaches were given the opportunity to display great patience with their young team.) The Indians had driven down fairly deep into Longhorn territory when a multitude of penalties began. First it was an offensive facemask, then a procedure call. Then, despite being backed up into his own territory now, Garcia wheeled around the left end for long TD... only to be negated by another holding penalty. "That's ok guys, do it again" yelled the assistant coach from the sideline. So, Garcia did just that and took the ball into the end zone again for 6. Had it not been for that yellow marker on the field, we would have been tied. All for not though as his second TD of the drive was also negated. Minatare struggled on offense after that and turned it over on downs with 5:25 to go in the half still down 6-0.A good defensive showing by the Indians gave them the ball back with another chance to get some points on the board before halftime. The enthusiasm was squelched when Minatare coughed up the ball on their own 17 yard line with 2:58 left. The Indian defense held tough, but Longhorn Sophomore Travis Hoover was able to punch it in with :10 seconds remaining for his second TD of the night. The PAT kick attempt was blocked by Hyannis making it 12-6. Minatare looked to be gaining some momentum when Sophomore Steven Juarez intercepted the ball with 5:32 remaining in the 3rd. Both teams then struggled with multiple penalties with all drives stalling and our score after 3 still 12-6 Hyannis.Hyannis drove down the field to start the 4th quarter but a goal line stand led by Senior Richard Mitchell and another interception by Juarez and the Indians were back in it. Nate Garcia took the Indians to paydirt again scoring on the run and knotting our game up at 12-12. The ensuing PAT was blocked and we remained locked up with 4 minutes to go in the contest.The Indians had the momentum and were poised to pull this one off when the Minatare 'D' had Hoover scrambling for his life. Unfortunately, in 6-man football, scrambling is a big part of the game. Hoover rambled back and forth and eventually down the field for his third touchdown of the evening with 1:57 remaining. Their PAT pass was good making our final score 19-12 as the Indians were not able to muster another drive of their own.In line with recent tradition at Minatare, the Homecoming Royalty was presented after the game with Richard Mitchell and Sabrina Longoria named your 2011 MHS Homecoming King and Queen. Jr Prince and Princess went to Jorge Montelongo and Chyann Ross.Despite the breezy and cool conditions, more dirty laundry on the field than a Don Henley song from the 80's and a game that ended up being one of the lowest scoring 6-man contests in history, it was an enjoyable evening watching the two young teams battle it out. Minatare's next contest is scheduled for this friday when they host a team from Central Nebraska, the 3-1 Arcadia Huskies.

We built a site for our local Never Forget! a 10th Anniversary Rememberance of 9-11 to create excitement and anticipation as well as gather volunteers for the big event.

Our newest Website Designer, Kat Van Hoosear, has been working diligently on creating some really great looking free websites that will be featured on this new Downtown Scottsbluff website! Those involved in Real Estate must certainly be aware of the rapidly changing environment around them. The buying and selling processes have completely evolved due to the increased use of computers and handheld devices. Our Custom Real Estate Website Division focuses on assisting Real Estate Agents and Brokers with Full Custom IDX Integration. Most Agencies subscribe to, or utilize the MLS system through IDX but are only given the generic 'smart framing' instructions. This free, cookie cutter method offers very little customization and ends up being the norm on most real estate websites. We agree that it's very frustrating to both buyers and sellers. If you want true IDX Customization, then you must either learn to integrate it yourself or hire a professional website design and programming firm (preferably ours).

Riverside Zoo Official Website

The Riverside Discovery Center has a new website by Hale Multimedia LLC of Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Visit http://www.riversidediscoverycenter.org

There have been several unofficial sites over the years and even some that are on the search engines still. However, the only official site sanctioned by the RDC is the one mentioned above. We are working on getting the folks who put up the unofficial sites to cooperate by either removing the old outdated sites, or by turning them over to the Riverside Discovery Center.

I have personally visited zoos from all over the world. Sure, the San Diego Zoo and Omaha's Henry Doorley Zoo are some of the best in the country, and I will never forget my trip to the Berlin Zoo in West Germany either. However, when it comes to small towns, The Riverside Zoo is so much better than most. The worst 'big city' zoo I have every been to was the one in Austin Texas. The Riverside Discovery Center Zoo blows them away - and Austin is the capital of a large, populated state!

One of my favorite features of the Riverside Zoo is their new Splash Pad. Your children will love it. Mine like to go to the zoo just to go to the Splash Pad sometimes when it's really hot. It's been alot of fun tracking the progress of AgMarketOnline.com as it grows. We started this Ag-focused online directory in 2004 and it has continued to break it's own records year after year.

This year we have seen significant monthly increases in traffic with our average visitor viewing 10 pages!

Minatare Wins Shootout 69-66

Head Coach Roger Russell from Minatare High School was quick to give credit to Xavier Longoria for leading the way in the win over Potter-Dix at home Saturday night.

It was a wild shootout from the get-go when Minatare stormed out with their usual first quarter intensity, thwarting of the Coyotes 22-6 after the first 8 minutes. In the second, Potter-Dix climbed back a bit by outscoring the Indians by eight, 21-13, bringing our half-time tally to 34-27 Minatare.

Coach Russell said they have been working on maintaining that intensity for all four quarters by emphasizing team-play. So far this year it's been a typical scenario of early Minatare dominance with big leads slipping away later on as the game progresses. Coach Russell added that they don't play well from behind, so prolonging that early intensity is going to be their key to winning. Their coaching philosophy of team-play was demonstrated in the second half of this one Saturday night as Minatare was able to overcome an amazing 3pt shooting performance from Potter-Dix's Ty Ottoson. The 6'1 Junior hit 7 three-pointers of his own while the rest of the team pitched in another 7 from long range. The Coyotes total of 14 three's accounted for 42 of their 66 total points. Despite all that, the Indians prevailed behind 21 points and 20 rebounds from Senior Xavier Longoria, while Dakin Rummel added 20 via his hot-hand from the outside and Nick Sarnirand pumped in another 16 with his patented slashing moves to the hoop off the fast break.

Minatare moved to 9-5 on the season with the victory while the Potter-Dix Coyotes dropped to a surprising 2-10 on the year and winless in D2 District 12 play. The Indians are 3-1 in conference play with victories over Soiux County, Potter-Dix and Leyton. Their only loss came at the hands of the latter this past week in a 12 point decision on the road at Potter-Dix.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Minatare Girls once again showed incredible effort and enthusiasm in their loss, but the JV Boys remained undefeated by downing the Coyote JVs in the first game of the day.

Coach Russell said he is "pleased with the fan and community support he has received" for the basketball program this year.

Even though the Indians appear to be a wild, scrappy bunch, it does appear that the coaching staff at Minatare has the program moving in a very positive direction.

2011 MAC Basketball Tournament

This year's Minuteman Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament had a little bit of everything for the high school basketball fan... a stage-like setting at the Cabelas sports complex, high-speed action, close games and a record blowout, amazing comebacks, surprising upsets of both #1 seeds and 3 Overtime games!

The tourney began on Monday with the girls action. Banner County flew past the Garden County Eagles 59-38 while the Blue Knights of South Platte quieted the Storm from Creek Valley 50-39 and record deficits were being set as Minatare fell to Leyton, 61-9. Top seeded Potter-Dix received the customary first round bye.

The boys bracket tipped off on Tuesday with Leyton defeating Banner County 50-39, Minatare reversing South Platte 52-25 and Garden County sneaking past Potter Dix, 53-46. The #1 Creek Valley Storm, with their tournament bye, awaited the winner of Garden County vs. Potter-Dix.

Round two of the MAC Tournament on Thursday spelled demise for both top seeded teams in the boys and girls brackets as the Banner County girls skated past #1 Potter-Dix, 55-42 and the Garden County boys surprised the #1 Creek Valley Storm, 39-37 in Overtime. The other two semi-finals pitted the Leyton girls against South Platte with Leyton winning easily 43-25 and the surging Minatare Indian boys over Leyton, 62-53.

In that late Thursday semifinal, Minatare jumped out to an 8-0 lead before the Warriors settled down and played the Indians even the rest of the way. The Indians never trailed by less than their initial lead until the Warriors made it interesting cutting it to 58-53 with 32 seconds to go with a flurry of last minute buckets of their own. Minatare's Wojo hit several key free throws going 6 for 6 from the line in the fourth quarter to secure the win while Dakin Rummel shot lights-out hitting 6 three-pointers en route to his game high 28 points advancing them to the MAC Championship on Saturday. Minatare improved to 8-3 on the season while Leyton dropped to 8-4.

In Saturday's first consolation game, the Potter-Dix Coyote girls found some redemption, earning third place in the tourney by upending the South Platte Blue Knights, 55-37. The second game of the night was the first of our two back-to-back OT games which proved to be an exciting comeback for the Leyton boys. The Warriors had to chisel away at an early Creek Valley lead to eventually tie it up at the end of regulation. Then, the Warriors continued their late momuntum by blanking the Storm 8-0 in the final stanza, winning the third place finish by the score of Leyton 54 Creek Valley 46.

The second exciting overtime game immediately followed when the Banner County girls, defending their MAC title, took on the Lady Warriors of Leyton in the final matchup. The Wildcats ran up a 27-13 halftime lead which should have put them in good shape. However, the scorebook was showing several key BC girls already in foul trouble... and it almost made the difference. The Lady Warriors came out on the warpath in the second half, erasing the Wildcat lead by outscoring them 30-16 to tie it up at 43-43 with 15 seconds left in regulation. Despite the fact that Banner County never trailed and the only time the game was tied was at 0-0 and 43-43... all the momentum had shifted to the Lady Warriors. The Lady Wildcats held on to win in OT 49-45 to claim their second consecutive MAC Championship.

The Lady Wildcats are led by Coach Brittany Cooper who gave credit to how the girls stuck together with key starters out. Assistant Coach Ms. Covell had this to say, "The second half was nerve racking with Leyton catching up quickly with a tie of 43-43. We lost Lindsey Soule 3rd quarter and Kaylea Stoddard 4th quarter from fouling out. With Brooke Wyatt having four fouls herself, the girls were at a tough spot, but Cody Muhr and Amanda Harrison managed to keep up. With the girls going to overtime, the girls fought hard and managed to win the game. Jessica Bruce, Brooke Wyatt and Ashley Harrison scored points during overtime. It was a great game!!"

The final game of the tournament ended up being a rematch from earlier this month in Minatare when the Indians defeated the Garden County Eagles in a low scoring affair at home, 32-28. At Minatare, the Indians found a way to claw back after being down by 7 late in the game to win by 4. This time, it was to be much different. It was the Eagles turn to play catch up, and they did.

Minatare was on fire early as Xavier Longoria and company hit several key shots off some really pretty passing from the Indians. Minatare took a 5 point lead into half 26-21, but it already felt as if the game was slipping away. It didn't take the Eagles long in the third quarter to erase the Minatare lead and secure a 10 point lead of their own at 35-25. Things seemed to be spinning out of control for Minatare when their sharpshooter was whistled for a technical foul. Minatare has scored over 70 multiple times this year, but in the second half of this one the Indians just couldn't hit any of their shots. One thing is for sure. When the Indians are hot, they're hot!... and when they're not, they're not.

The Garden County Eagles, behind solid inside play and hustle in the backcourt spoiled Minatare's hopes for a 2011 MAC Championship, 44-36 Saturday night in Sidney.

There's quite a shake up going on in the Minuteman Athletic Conference this year. At least there was Thursday night as the top seeded teams on both sides of the brackets in the boys and girls all exited early, creating some new matchups for our title games on Saturday.

Banner County toppled the Potter-Dix Girls 55-42 and the #1 seed Creek Valley Boys fell to Garden County 39-37. The Leyton Girls defeated South Platte to earn the right to face Banner County and the Minatare boys shot past the Warriors of Dalton/Gurley 62-53. This twist of fate creates a rematch of last weeks game at Minatare where the Indians defeated the Eagles in a nail biter 42-38.

In Thursdays semi-final, Minatare jumped out to an 8-0 lead before the Warriors settled down and played the Indians even the rest of the way. The warriors tried to make it interesting by cutting it to 58-53 with 32 seconds to go with a flurry of last minute buckets, but Wojo hit several key free throws to secure the win, going 6 for 6 from the line in the fourth quarter. Dakin Rummel shot lights out hitting 6 three-pointers en route to his game high 28 points advancing them to the MAC Championship on Saturday.

Minatare improves to 8-3 on the season while Leyton drops to 8-4.

Wildcats Surprise Minatare Boys

It was a tale of two quarters... and two halves.

The 3 pointers started raining early in Harrisburg saturday night as the Banner County Wildcats at 1-9 on the year played host to the 6-2 Minatare Indians. The Wildcats took an early 7-0 advantage before Minatare's Nate Garcia hit a 3 pointer to get the Indians on the board before the Wildcats reeled off 5 more points to increase their lead to 12-3 after one quarter of play. One quarter down, three 3 pointers in the books.

In the second quarter the Minatare boys fought back to record a 13-4 advantage of their own to take the lead for the first time at 2:30 left in the half. Our halftime score ended up locked at 16-16.

The second half was a lot faster as both teams scored more points in the third quarter than they did together in the whole first half. Banner County held on to a 33-31 advantage after 3 quarters of nearly foul-free play as both teams to this point had only recorded a total of 5 fouls through 3 quarters. A tribute to the referees, the coaches and the players.

The fourth quarter saw several ties and lead changes. Minatare held the advantage late into the fourth quarter until just under a minute to play when Banner County took the lead 47-46. After several missed shots and late fouls by the Indians, the Wildcats added a late free throw to get the win 48-46 over the Minatare Indians who fall to 6-3 on the year. The Wildcats improve to 2-9 behind their seven 3 point buckets.

Miss America's Reason for Competing

"Over the years, my parents have had two main reasons they supported my involvement in this organization.

One was of course, the scholarship money. The Miss America Organization is the largest provider of scholarships for women in the world, and because I’m planning on attending law school, we’re looking at seven years of college; so scholarships are very important! The second had to do with the rules of the competition. In order to compete in the Miss America system, you must be between the ages of 17 and 24… and you cannot be married. When they saw that I had my heart set on competing as long as I could, possibly until age 24, they found that as their security that I would not get married until I was at least 25. I guess I ruined that plan by winning at 17. Oops!

As I continued my involvement in pageants however, I found my own reasons for competing. For years, I had been searching for a place where I excelled; a place where I felt I belonged or was meant to be. As a dancer, singer, pianist, guitarist, gymnast, speaker, and actress, I found that although I did well in each area, I wasn’t willing to completely dedicate myself to any one area as many others were. When I found pageantry, I realized that God had prepared me for this competition by creating me to love diversity, and here was the place I could use the talents He had given me.

During Miss Nebraska week in North Platte, I began a journal in which I recorded not only the events of each day, but also a passage of Scripture and my thoughts and prayers. At the end of the week, on June 5th, 2010, just hours before the final competition, I was reading 2 Timothy and chose chapter 2, verse 15 as particularly applicable to me. It reads: “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.” As I thought about that verse and how it applied to me, I wrote the following prayer:

Dear God, please help me to be a diligent servant not only today but from here on out. Give me the strength and wisdom to accurately handle your word of truth and the diligence and perseverance necessary to be a worker who is not ashamed. I wish to be a shining light for you, a glowing example of who you are, and a grain of salt in a tasteless world. Whether or not this is achieved through a position, crown, title, or job, please place me exactly where you need me to be an effective ambassador for you. I am clay in your hands, your humble servant, willing to do whatever you wish for me in your perfect plan. I love you so much and thank you for blessing me so tremendously and bestowing such outstanding opportunity on me. My greatest wish is to exemplify your love through my words and actions in order to bring others to you.

That night I won the title of Miss Nebraska. From that, I know that this is exactly where God wants me to be, and He has a plan for each and every day of my life, not only this year, but every year. That was my prayer then; it has been my prayer these six months; it will be my prayer these next weeks at Miss America; and it will continue to be my prayer for the rest of my life. If I win the title of Miss America, I will know it is His will. If I do not win, and continue the next six months as Miss Nebraska, I will know it is His will. How incredibly calming it is to know that my life is in His hands!

No matter what happens, my prayer continues to be simply that I will fulfill His purpose in everything that I do. If you had not previously known my reasons and purpose behind why I do what I do, I hope you now understand what I believe my calling to be. Why am I competing in the Miss America competition over the next ten days? Because God has placed me in this position to show His love. Please pray that I might be able to accomplish this, and as always, please feel free to share your thoughts and comments as to how I might better achieve these things."

We can all learn something from this young lady. How incredibly calming IT IS to know that our lives are in His hands. Thank you for these precious words Teresa. From all of us in Gering, Scottsbluff and the state of Nebraska... CONGRATULATIONS and enjoy your walk with Him!

2011 Miss America - Teresa Scanlan

Gering's own Teresa Scanlan has been crowned Miss America in the 2011 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas.

Scanlan, 17, was crowned moments ago in the final stage of the pageant at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.
The daughter of Dr. Mark and Janie Scanlan of Gering, Scanlan was the youngest contestant in this year's Miss America Pageant. She was named Thursday night's preliminary talent winner for her piano performance of "White Water Chopped Sticks" during the third night of competition.

Scanlan will receive a $50,000 scholarship for winning the title of Miss America, in addition to a $2,000 scholarship for winning the talent competition and other prizes and benefits.

We hosted our 12th annual Jeremiah House Thanksgiving Dinner Tuesday evening November 16th, 2010 beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Dozens of volunteers from several area churches came together to serve more than 200 meals to the JHouse community and their families.

This year we had a very special 'Magic Show' delivered by Pastor Mike of Sharp's Corner from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. He put on a great show while delivering a strong message of salvation. We are blessed to be serving the Lakota people side by side with servants like Pastor Mike!

We also want to thank the wonderful student leaders that continue to serve with us from Frontier Scool of the Bible out of LaGrange, Wyoming. They have been so faithful and willing to serve year round year after year. Thank you Mr. Koester and everyone at FSB!

Special thanks also to Melody Leafgreen. She has been our Kitchen Director from day 1. She does an incredible work coordinating our supporting churches each week. 10 Biggest Website Mistakes

Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year, your website is presenting your company's image and message to prospective clients all over the world. With this phenomenal reach, you want to make sure your best image and best message are coming across.

Perhaps your website is not generating the interest you'd like it to and you'd like to find out why. Maybe you're just getting started in your new business and know you need a website, but don't know where to start. Possibly your website is doing great, and you'd simply like to take it to the next level.

Whether creating a new site or updating your existing site, here are some common pitfalls to avoid.

1. Unprofessional writing. It's easy to get so wrapped up in the web design portion of a website and forget about the words that go on the pages. Maybe the web designer does the design but not the writing. You might even find yourself writing the content at the last minute. Good writing is far more important than bling, and great copy from a professional copywriter will get your phone ringing.

2. Looking like all the other sites out there. Your business has something unique and different to offer its customers. Is that evident on your website? If not, you could be attracting the wrong type of customers, or worse, none at all.

When you hire a Webmaster, you'll want to make sure that s/he will design your site for you and your customers and not for himself/herself.

Your website will shine when it emulates your company's personality.

3. Not maximizing the eight seconds you have. web visitors - your potential prospects - will give you only eight seconds to wow them. Do you have your best stuff at the top of your home page? I mean the really good stuff, not just the stuff your mom is proud of!

You'll want to capture the attention of potential customers using the item that brings out the best in you. It might be a great tag line, a killer testimonial, a big award, a blue chip client list, or the like.

4. No credibility. Can web visitors check out your reputation on the web? You'll want to make sure your website comes as close as possible to feeling like a warm, personal visit with you. Do this by posting content that is designed to build your credibility.

As an example, this can include content that shows you have a track record of success: testimonials, case studies of current clients, and a client list.

If you have been mentioned in the press, include a press page on your website that lists the newspapers, magazines, radio talk shows, and other places where you've been mentioned.

5. No way to capture interested leads. People warm up slowly. Your web visitors might be interested in you but are not quite ready to call you or buy anything yet.

You'll want a way to keep track of these warm leads who will be ready to buy a few months down the road when they've gotten to know you better. There are several ways to gather leads from your website, depending on what you're willing to offer them. One method that is completely ineffective for capturing leads is to ask for information on your contact page. Just don't do it!

6. Not marketing your site. If you've spent all your money doing everything right, but you don't market your site, you may not get any visitors.

You'll need to spend at least a little time marketing your site through offline and online methods. For example, add your web-site name to the bottom of every email that you send. You can do this automatically by modifying the signature file in your email software.

You may also want to delve into the more advanced fields of search engine marketing and optimization.

7. Under construction. Many people's pet peeves is to click on a page and see an "under construction" message. It's inconsiderate of people's time to lead them down a dead-end alley, plus your website screams the message, "This person can't finish what they start." I'm sure that's not the message you wish to send.

8. Too much bling. In the name of being cute, many websites display obnoxious moving parts, flashing signs, or vacuous videos. Did you know most people hate that stuff?

Bling doesn't impress clients, except in three cases: kids' sites, sites that sell luxury items, and entertainment sites. If you have one of those sites, then you need bling. Limited bling is OK, timeless style is better, and meaningful, benefits-filled content is best.

9. Nonworking links, typos, or other mistakes. A site filled with errors tells people that its owner probably makes a lot of mistakes when delivering services. Even if the message is compelling, the red flag is there for people to see. People's intuition will tell them not to do business with you. A quick and thorough testing of the site will avoid this pitfall.

10. No goals. A lot of people come to me saying, "I want a website." I ask them, "What do you want it to do?" And they don't really know.

It's important to think about what you want your website to accomplish because that goal should be integral to the design of the site. The best sites lead their visitors to a certain outcome that is beneficial for both themselves and their customers.

When you can overcome these 10 common problems, your website can start to become a powerful and effective marketing tool for your business.

5 Questions To Ask Your Customers

If you seem to be throwing lots of time and money at advertising with dismal results then these five questions could save you money and build customer loyalty.

Most business owners steer away from asking their customers what they really think about their products or services for fear that they may find fault. This is a "bury your head in the sand" mentality that limits your potential and your opportunities to stay ahead of your competition.

How do I know this? Because I have worked with dozens of small businesses, and most of them have never asked their customers what they think. When I work with businesses, one of the first things I do is call some of their customers because if the product or service is not up to scratch, bringing in more customers will do more damage than good.

So here's my top five questions and why you need to ask these.

1. How did you hear about us?
It is important to understand what marketing channels are working for you. If the majority of your new customers are coming from word of mouth referrals, create opportunities for more referrals. Don't spend your hard-earned cash on advertising to people who don't know and love you.

2. What was your main reason for choosing us?

I am constantly reminded that price is not the main reason people choose to do business with you. Consistently across the 70 industry sectors I have surveyed, trust that you can provide the right product or service is the No. 1 reason. But there are others and you need to know the reasons why customers choose you, because this is essential to your communication with existing and potential customers.

3. What is one thing we do really well for you?

This question gives you clues about why you are better than your competitors--and this creates opportunity to exploit your strong points in your marketing. Customers will tell you why you are better than the guy down the road. Your job is to make sure that you keep delivering well on your strengths.

4. Is there anything we could we do better?

This is the number one reason why business owners don't do customer surveys, yet this is vital information that you need to know. You need to know where the gaps are so you can plug them. Don't allow your weaknesses to be your competitors' advantage.

5. On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely are you to refer a friend or colleague to us, where 1 is not likely at all and 10 is extremely likely?

Those of you who are familiar with net promoter score will know that a customer who scores 9 or 10 is a strong referral source. You also want to ask them why they have given you this score so that you can understand what is important to your best customers and be sure that you continue to meet their expectations.
So there you have it. With the answers to these questions, you can create marketing plans that have a balance of strategies for attracting new customers as well as retaining existing ones. You will know what areas you need to work on and what you need to constantly keep on top of to avoid losing customers.

As I mentioned before, I have conducted dozens of surveys for my customers, and it has been very rare that a customer's customer does not want to participate. Any feedback about your business is great. It is not about you but what you can do for your customers to have a sustainable business.

New ATV trailer FenceMaster goes through rough country, carries tools, spraying system

Building fence in rugged country just got a whole lot easier; so did checking and doctoring livestock, spraying hard to reach areas, and a lot of other jobs. The reason is a new ATV trailer capable of carrying a day’s worth of fencing materials, tools, medicines and more.

The FenceMaster is a four-foot wide aluminum and poly trailer built on tandem axles. Compact and maneuverable it has a 1,500 pound payload capacity. Spika Welding and Manufacturing, of Lewis-town, Mont., designed and manufactures the innovative trailer.

“We called all of our production people and all of our engineers. We said, ‘let’s figure out what we can do, what we are good AT, and what we know,” Spika said.

The crew at Spika knows agriculture and they know fencing. They designed the FenceMaster to carry a full day of fencing supplies. It has three rotating wire spools on the back and self-closing staple and post clip bins.

"It pretty much is ideal for fencing", says Tim Crabtree of Denton, who should know...he spends the majority of his time building fence.

"Everything you could want for making fencing faster and easier is there in the design.”

That is because SPIKA went the extra mile. After they came up with the initial design they built a prototype then asked ranchers, fence contractors, and implement dealers to come in and evaluate the trailer.

“We asked them what they liked and didn’t like about the trailer,” Spika said. The result is a fine-tuned workhorse. Their trailer organizes supplies and can be pulled behind an ATV over rough terrain or down a freeway at 70 miles per hour. The FenceMaster is freeway stable and comes equipped with lights and all necessary features to be licensed and street legal - a great solution for stockmen who must travel to pastures several miles apart.

Crabtree is thrilled. “I knew as soon as I saw it that it was just what I needed. It will save me a ton of work carrying posts and wire where my pickup can't get. Four-wheelers are cheaper to operate and a lot handier, but they just can't carry much by themselves."

Spika also said the trailer is safer.

“When you have to use a four-wheeler for fencing you strap a handful of steel posts to the rack, tie a fence stretcher across the handle bars, bungi-cord on a roll of wire and try to go. It’s dangerous and can get top heavy that way. You also loose stuff halfway down the trail yet there are places with fences that you just can’t get a pickup to easily. This trailer is designed to go almost anywhere an ATV can go and you can take enough supplies to cover several miles of fence repair. There’s no going back to get something else. You have everything right there with you,” he explained.

The FenceMaster retails for $4,995 which may give some producers initial sticker shock but Spika said once they see what the trailer is designed to do, they realize it has tremendous value and versatility and get excited to own one.

“When you think about contracting $8,000 for a mile of fence or investing $14,000 in a post drive, the cost of the FenceMaster is more justifiable,” he said.

The whole concept of the trailer is to expand the capability of the ATV’s most producers already own. Available accessory packages, such as the hydraulic power pack allows producers to run hydraulic post hole diggers, tampers or other hydraulic equipment far from a power source.

“It’s far more versatile and handy than trying to run that equipment off a skid steer.” Skid steer's hydraulic systems have to be modified and most people don’t want to mess with that, he explained.

The power pack kit is equipped with a 9-horsepower Honda engine that attaches to the back deck. You get up close to where you need to work, start up the engine and plug in whatever tool you have.

Spika explained that the trailer can be positioned close to where you need the power so long hydraulic lines aren’t needed. Also, it’s far easier to get on and off a four-wheeler to move than into and out of a skid steer, especially a hundred times a day.

The weatherproof trailer is also great for calving season. A calf rack can be secured to the trailer and multiple storage compartments make it easy to carry calving tools, ear tags, medical supplies, even record books.

“It is great for checking your herds. If you’re out in the field with this and you see a calf with scours, you have the medicine and syringes right with you. If a cow is having difficulty calving, you have your calf puller and ob chains right there. You can even weigh the calf and carry your record books so you can record that information right in the field. You have all this capability where you need it, not back in the barn,” Spika explained.

There is also a powerful spraying system accessory kit, complete with a 110-gallon tank. The pump can run up to 300 psi, deliver four gallons per minute and spray vertically as tall as a 35-foot tree. A boom-less nozzle bar can cover a 30-foot swath for range or cropland weed treatment or liquid fertilizer application in places where regular sprayers cannot go.

Four-wheelers are a vital tool in agriculture. The trailer expands the ability of the four-wheeler.

“This is really another important tool, an implement like a tractor, and has been built to work hard and last for years,” explained Spika.

The design allows producers to keep all their tools and supplies in one place, ready to go. If cows get out, “you just hook it up to your four-wheeler, run out to get the cows in, and have what you need to fix the fence right with you. You don’t have to return home to find and retrieve the tools and supplies. It’s all ready,” he said. Whether it’s taking out salt or protein blocks, using it as a parts and tool cart during haying or harvest or just general farm work, the FenceMaster helps producers master more than fence work.

“The more they think about it, the more they see where it will be justifying itself almost every day. It's kind of like a skid steer; once you have one, you don't know how you ever got along without one," said Tryg Williams, Spika's sales rep for the northwestern region.

“This is an investment that makes sense,” Spika said. “Producers will use it for so many different operations that it will become extremely valuable. They will soon feel lost without it.”

Spika will have a FenceMaster trailer and accessories on display at the NILE. Producers will be able to see how it works and what the FenceMaster can do for them. Dear Friends of Chuck Wagon Church

Time to report in on what the Lord has accomplished over the summer. Last year we sent 45 kids to camp. This year we sent 54. The best part of this equation is that last year we had only two from Pine Ridge. This year that figure was 19. For the first time ever we did a camp exclusively for the Reservation kids. Seven or eight gave their hearts to the Lord, and nearly all dedicated themselves to getting their family saved, and praying for their family and friends. There is a sense in which the old Passover still applies. They had to take a lamb for each house and the lamb was sacrificed for the family. Someone in the family has to intercede and witness to the family. Has to be the lamb for the house. I told them the true story of a woman I knew who was saved when she was only eight years old. Her family wasn’t Christians, and she had no church upbringing. She had no idea about prayer or how it worked, she just knew she was saved and that her family needed to be saved. She would go home and go upstairs to her room, open the window, lean out and yell up at God. (That was her method of praying.) “God, save my mom and dad.! Save My brothers and sisters! Save my neighbors!) Needless to say God answered her prayers. In her teens she began bible studies, and gathered in the neighbors. When the group got to 20 or 30 she would enlist a preacher. By this method she started seventeen churches. I told them that someone had to be the one to pray, and lead them to Jesus. The next night I had a rapper from Denver sing and give his testimony. He had been a major druggie, and had gotten so bad that he thought he was dying. Satan appeared to him and demons were trying to drag him down to hell. He was screaming, and trying to break away, but couldn’t. He saw Jesus and that scared him even worse because he knew Jesus wasn’t pleased with the way he was living. But he cried out to Jesus and Jesus saved him. His twin brother was also a druggie, and he began to pray and witness to him and to his family. He now ministers to others. He told the kids the same thing that I had the night before. You have to pray for your families and witness to them. You have to be the messenger of Jesus to them. He had the children lift their hands and pray for their families. Almost every child had both hands up praying for their families. Here is a neat follow up on that same story. We dropped two of the children off in the country because they lived out of town. A man happened to be visiting when they arrived home and told us this story. He said the little guy came into the house raised his hands and said “Praise the Lord!” Went over to the CD player took out what they were playing and put in his Christian rap CD and said “We’re going to listen to Christian music.” We are now planning a rap concert in two high schools on the reservation, one at Pine Ridge and one at Allen. We are hoping the teens will attend because of the testimony of the teens who went to camp. Thank you for all your help. We did all this at no cost to any of the children.

Had a guy fresh out of prison that needed food and a place to stay. People referred him to our church, and we talked a bit. He had no religious background, but wanted to get right with God, and get his life straight. We prayed together for his salvation. Then I got him some food and got him a place to stay while he looked for a job. The dinner count has gone up this past month to around 95 each Saturday. The Sunday count is still over 200. I think October will start our 11th year. It is amazing to me that we have probably fed over 150,000 free meals, and gave out enough boxed food to feed an additional 24,000 people without taking an offering, and without government help. That is the Lord! All our needs are being met, and the Lord doesn’t seem to be affected by the sluggish economy.

Again, my thanks to you for your gifts, and I ask God to bless you richly for all you have done, and all you are doing, and all you will do.

We have a teen living with us and are scheduled for our first parent teacher meeting in nearly a quarter of a century. I sort of slipped into the twenty First Century through the back door having lived on a farm most of my life. I am familiar with teeth of all kinds and could give a good guess at a horses age by looking at its teeth. I’ve eaten berries of every description, and raised gardens and done construction, but lately have found out that a blackberry is not edible, blue tooth is not a disease, and I-Pods are not used in construction or found in a garden. This does tend to make a person a little apprehensive when you realize you are part of a triangle ( teacher, student, parent) responsible for some lads educational progress. How he came to be at our house is a story that started nine years ago when he was only eight. Harry and I were going door to door calling on people. We stopped at a house where there was an old man and old woman and the old man’s middle aged daughter. The old man was sitting head down slobbering on his shirt. The old woman was almost blind, and the daughter was suffering from kidney failure. The house was mess, and filthy. Food and older food was on the table among a mixture of parakeet droppings, and used bird seed. Cigarettes and ashes filled ash trays and tin cans. We talked to them and prayed with them and led them to Christ. They started coming to church except for the old man. He went into the hospital and hovered near death for several weeks. We and the church continued to pray for him. He recovered and became a regular church attendee. He quit slobbering got his mind back and attended until he went into the veterans home four or so years later. The old lady became so special to all of us that we still talk about her respectfully to this day. She would come up after services and say, “May I have the list of prayer requests?” I said, “Blanche, you can’t see well enough to even read this list, and my writing is so bad you couldn’t read it if you could see.” She said, “Oh, I don’t read it, I just hold it up to God and pray over it. He knows what’s on it.” She would take that list week after week. The daughter, Vivian, was on dialysis and was weak a lot of the time, but she helped us do puppet programs and was very faithful to do all she could. In addition she went to her neighbors and invited them to church. It was she who invited the eight year old Ben to church. She died a few months before her father, Ralph, but when I went to visit her at her home, it was clean, her bible was open on the table, and Christian music was playing on the radio. (She didn’t know I was coming or I might have expected that.)
Ben was from a dysfunctional family with a history of drug abuse and alcoholism. He came to church and gave his heart to the Lord. He always helped in any way he could. He helped my wife with the children’s church and still does. He helped serve in the kitchen, and still does. Recently one of his brothers died from alcohol at age 24. Ben couldn’t even inform his mother because they had not heard from her in years, and had no idea where she lived, or if she lived. He said this, “If it hadn’t been for Vivian, I don’t know where I’d be today.” If there is a lesson in all this, its that if someone blind and someone dying can find a way to serve God and make a difference in a life, then surely we can do something.
When the boy’s father and stepmother moved away, he wanted to stay here and finish school. His sister who also came to church was the first in a family totaling fourteen to finish High School. Ben will be the second. When they first came to church they were both failing every class. Now he is a B plus student and plans to go to college. There were many weeks when he was the sole support of his family. He went to school, worked full time at Taco Bell, and slept when he could. Many times he would get home after 1:30 A.M. It is hard to imagine a family where income is more important than education, and the head of the house would put the burden of supporting the family on a sixteen year old. Sometimes it is humorous. For instance, we had a storm, and it knocked out our electricity for a while. When everything went black, he immediately asked if we had paid the electric bill.
We feel privileged to be able to help him. Maybe we can finish up what Vivian started.

AP Exclusive: Backers of NY mosque appear divided, investor says he may sell if price is right

NEW YORK – The group of Muslims planning to build a 13-story Islamic center and mosque near ground zero appears plagued by divisions that raise questions about the future of the project, with one major investor saying he is prepared to sell some or all of the site if the price is right.

Hisham Elzanaty, an Egyptian-born businessman who says he provided a majority of the financing to gain control over the two buildings where the center would be built, told The Associated Press this week that while he supports the concept, he needs to turn a profit.

He said one of the buildings is worth millions if it is redeveloped, and he intends to seize the opportunity. He said he would like to see the other building turned into a mosque, but if his community doesn't come forward with enough cash for him to break even, he will turn it over to someone else.

"I'm a businessman. This was a mere business transaction for me," said Elzanaty, a U.S. citizen who has lived on Long Island for decades, owns medical clinics in New York City and invests in real estate on the side.

Representatives of some of the project's backers said they have just started trying to raise the estimated $100 million needed to build the center and the millions more required to run it.

Elzanaty said his real estate partnership, which paid $4.8 million for half the site last year, has already received offers three times that much to sell that parcel.

"Develop it, raze it, sell it," he said. "If someone wants to give me 18 or 20 million dollars today, it's all theirs."

A spokesman for the developer leading the investment team declined to confirm Elzanaty's claim that he has a majority stake in the partnership, or comment on whether he needs approval from the rest of the group to decide the fate of the two buildings.

Dealing with potential conflicts among investors is but one of the challenges facing the group trying to organize the center.

The concept was first broached publicly late last year by a group of backers that included Feisal Abdul Rauf, an imam who leads a small Manhattan mosque not far from the World Trade Center, his wife, Daisy Khan, who heads a Muslim nonprofit group, and a real estate investor who is a member of Rauf's congregation, Sharif El-Gamal.

Together, they outlined a plan to demolish a pair of linked buildings and replace them with a tower that would hold a theater, a health club, a performing arts center, a culinary school and a mosque.

Since then, though, it has been difficult to determine who is in control. The key players in the development are represented by different publicity firms and different lawyers, and have varying agendas and no consistent message.

Rauf left the U.S. just as controversy over the plan was becoming explosive. His first significant public comments in months came in a letter published Wednesday in The New York Times in which he referred to the center as the Cordoba House — a name that had been abandoned by other backers weeks ago in favor of the moniker Park51, which reflects the project's address.

Rauf also said for the first time that the center would also include separate prayer spaces for Christians, Jews and people of other faiths.

"I do not underestimate the challenges that will be involved in bringing our work to completion," he wrote, adding that construction has yet to begin. "I know there will be interest in our financing, and so we will clearly identify all of our financial backers."

Sharif El-Gamal, who had emerged as the public face of the project in Rauf's absence, has declined most interview requests, leaving critics free to speculate about who is behind the center.

In his few public statements over the past few weeks, he has portrayed himself, rather than Rauf, as the key force behind the proposed center, and created a new nonprofit group to raise the estimated $100 million needed for construction.

Yet it is unclear how much authority he has to set the project's agenda.

In one typical episode in late August, a guest imam scheduled to oversee Friday prayers at the site of the planned center invited reporters throughout New York City to come hear him speak. When they arrived, they were met by an exasperated El-Gamal, who instructed police to keep the media out, saying the invitation was unauthorized.

Until late last week, El-Gamal had declined to identify any of the eight investors involved in his real estate partnership, or say whether any had a controlling interest. Real estate partnerships in New York are generally not required to disclose their membership to the public. On Friday, he acknowledged for the first time in response to media inquiries that Elzanaty was a major contributor.

After speaking with Elzanaty on Tuesday, the AP contacted El-Gamal's spokesman, Larry Kopp, to see if he could confirm Elzanaty's statements that he is the principal investor in the project and has the final say over what happens to the real estate. Kopp said El-Gamal wouldn't comment on the ownership issues.

The business transactions surrounding the project are complicated.

Half the site is owned by the real estate partnership that includes Elzanaty and is managed by El-Gamal, according to city property records. The other half is owned by the utility Consolidated Edison, but controlled through a long-term lease that another real estate entity purchased for $700,000 last year. Elzanaty said he put up all of that money and thus controls the lease, which allows its holder to tear down the building and construct something new.

Elzanaty said that while he would love to see the entire site become a center that would replace the sometimes shabby places downtown where Muslims pray now, the project can't come at the expense of his investment.

As for the criticism that it would be inappropriate to build any Muslim house of worship so close to the trade center site, where victims of Islamic terrorists died, Elzanaty said he strongly disagreed.

"There is a public opinion that says no, but if you say no, you are defeated by the fanatics," he said.

Elzanaty added that he believed that his own parents were victims of terrorism.

His mother and father were passengers on an EgyptAir flight that crashed in the Atlantic Ocean in 1999. U.S. officials ruled that the co-pilot deliberately steered the plane into the sea. No group claimed responsibility for the crash, and investigators have discounted the possibility of terrorism. Egypt has claimed that mechanical failure caused the crash.

Still, Elzanaty said it is hurtful that some critics of the mosque project have accused him of secretly sympathizing with terrorists, given his personal loss.

Some of those detractors have pointed to a donation that he made in 1999 to the Holy Land Foundation, which was later indicted on charges of contributing money to the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Five leaders of the foundation were recently convicted of illegally supporting Hamas.

Elzanaty said he believed his donation was being used to support Palestinian orphans, and noted that the U.S. government had the foundation on its list of IRS-approved charities until 2001.

"America is my country," he said, "and I will never do anything to hurt it."

Minatare, Nebraska - The Minatare Indians under the direction of their first year head coach fell Friday afternoon to the speedy Hitchcock County Falcons. Hitchcock County is located in the southwestern part of Nebraska between Benkelman and McCook.

Several times throughout the game Minatare mounted a comeback but could never get it closer than 11. The Indians did show both toughness on Defense and the ability to go deep. One of the highlights was a beautiful bomb in the near endzone that the Minatare receiver did a fantastic job of keeping his focus and coming down with it over the defender.

The Indians play host to Loup County, Nebraska next week (Sep 10, 2010)

Watch out everyone! Don't fall for the age old promise of "page 1 on google". It's a scam. No company, including my own, should ever promise anyone anything on a search engine they do not own. Google is bigger than all of us.

I enjoy hearing from some of our website clients who are experiencing a 'local' newspaper company coming to them promising them page one on google....haha sound familiar?

A couple instances really make me laugh;

1) The rep walks in and says 'get a webpage with us and we'll improve your rankings on google.' So my client says ok, show me. They pull up his website on google and it's already at #1. He says, can you improve on that? The rep walked out and my client couldn't wait to tell me the story.

2) Another client calls me claiming that the newspaper is promising her page 1 on google.... I search for her under the same keywords they would and guess what..... Yep, you got it! She is already listed on the first page of google, at #3 in fact out of more than 7,000 results.

NO ONE outside of Google Inc's team of expert programmers knows exactly how the formula works that determines who gets what spot. Therefore, no one can promise anything from google unless they are willing to pay big bucks for the top ADS (and WHO clicks on ADS anyway?).

Look at it this way... Out of all the hundreds of thousands of businesses worldwide that have been promised "page 1 on google" ... which 10 actually get it? (Since Google displays ONLY 10 results per page by default).

If we have other Hale Multimedia clients out there who have been "promised page one on google", keep doing a great job of notifying me and don't buy into anything without checking with me like you do! Snopes receives funding from an undisclosed source. The source is
undisclosed because Snopes refuses to disclose that source. The Democratic

these views. The Democratic Alliance has been reported to instruct Fundees

For the past few years (www.snopescom/ has positioned itself, or others
have labeled it, as the 'tell-all final word' on any comment, claim and
email. But for several years people tried to find out who exactly was
behind snopes.com. It is run by a husband and wife team - that's right, no
big office of investigators and researchers, no team of lawyers. It's just
a mom-and-pop operation that began as a hobby. David and Barbara Mikkelson
in the San Fernando Valley of California started the website about 13
years ago and they have no formal background or experience in
investigative research.

The reason for the questions - or skepticisms - is a result of snopes.com
claiming to have the bottom line facts to certain questions or issue when
in fact they have been proven wrong. Also, there were criticisms the
Mikkelsons were not really investigating and getting to the 'true' bottom
of various issues.

A few months ago, when my State Farm agent Bud Gregg in Mandeville hoisted
a political sign referencing Barack Obama and made a big splash across the
Internet, 'supposedly' the Mikkelson's claim to have researched this issue
before posting their findings on snopes.com. In their statement they
claimed the corporate office of State Farm pressured Gregg into taking
down the sign, when in fact nothing of the sort 'ever' took place. I
personally contacted David Mikkelson (and he replied back to me) thinking
he would want to get to the bottom of this and I gave him Bud Gregg's
contact phone numbers - and Bud was going to give him phone numbers to the
big exec's at State Farm in Illinois who would have been willing to speak
with him about it. He never called Bud. In fact, I learned from Bud Gregg
that no one from snopes.com ever contacted anyone with State Farm.

Yet, snopes.com issued a statement as the 'final factual word' on the
issue as if they did all their homework and got to the bottom of things -
not!

Then it has been learned the Mikkelson's are very Democratic (party) and
extremely liberal. As we all now know from this presidential election,
liberals have a purpose agenda to discredit anything that appears to be
conservative. There has been much criticism lately over the Internet with
people pointing out the Mikkelson's liberalism revealing itself in their
website findings. Gee, what a shock?

So, I say this now to everyone who goes to snopes.com to get what they
think to be the bottom line fact 'proceed with caution.' Take what it says
at face value and nothing more. Use it only to lead you to their
references where you can link to and read the sources for yourself.
Plus,you can always search a subject and do the research yourself.

I have found this to be true also! Many videos of Obama I tried to verify
on Snopes and they said they were False. Then they gave their liberal
slant! I have suspected some problems with snopes for some time now, but I
have only caught them in half-truths. If there is any subjectivity they do
an immediate full left rudder.

I have recently discovered that Snopes.com is owned by a flaming liberal
and this man is in the tank for Obama. There are many things they have
listed on their site as a hoax and yet you can go to You tube yourself and
find the video of Obama actually saying these things. So you see, you
cannot and should not trust Snopes.com, ever for anything that remotely
resembles truth! I don't even trust them to tell me if email chains are
hoaxes anymore.

A few conservative speakers on MySpace told me about Snopes.com. A few
months ago and I took it upon myself to do a little research to find out
if it was true. Well, I found out for myself that it is true. Anyway just
FYI please don't use Snopes.com anymore for fact checking and make your
friends aware of their political leanings as well. Many people still
thinkSnopes.com is neutral and they can be trusted as factual. We need to
make sure everyone is aware that that is a hoax in itself.

phone outage in scottsbluff nebraska

Monday June 28, 2010 - Area phones and internet service were out of order in many places today in the Scottsbluff area for several hours, which affected all kinds of services including the use of debit or credit cards. It also seemed as though all the cellular service was down except for Viaero, which is our carrier here.

Apparently it was Century Link reporting the outage and they worked to restore service by early afternoon. Although our office phone service was down (Allo), our internet service was not affected... ? Strange, but again, great for us, so we actually carried on business as usual for the most part and were happy to see everyone else's service restored quickly.

Howard Hale's office in Minatare does not have service as of 2:00 pm Mountain. Therefore, he is not able to provide any current programming to our radio stations and their thousands of listeners. We hope that service is restored in Minatare soon! We are building a new recording studio in our Scottsbluff office, but that won't be ready for another month or so.

Just spoke to some businesses in Gering and Scottsbluff and it appears that the internet outage is not completely fixed yet. They are reporting that it is up and down and even the phone service is still spotty.

You will love this one, I haven't stop laughing yet.....

For those of you who have never traveled to the west, or southwest, cattle guards are horizontal steel rails placed at fence openings, in dug-out places in the roads adjacent to highways (sometimes across highways), to prevent cattle from crossing over that area. For some reason the cattle will not step on the "guards," probably because they fear getting their feet caught between the rails.

A few months ago, President Obama received and was reading a report that there were over 100,000 cattle guards in Colorado . Colorado ranchers had protested his proposed changes in grazing policies, so he ordered the Secretary of the Interior to fire half of the "cattle" guards immediately!!

Before the Secretary of the Interior could respond and presumably try to straighten him out, Vice-President, Joe Biden, intervened with a request that.. before any "cattle" guards were fired, they be given six months of retraining.

This is good!

Well written and even the dogs on the hill should be able to
understand this one.

This was written by a Mexican who is now a naturalized US Citizen,
and I think it's a great explanation of the illegal immigration issue.

Here is the quote:

"If you had tickets to a sports event, concert, Disneyland, or for
an airline flight, and when you got to your assigned seat you found someone
else was in that seat, what would you do? You would call for a person in
charge of ticket checking and have the person in your seat removed. You
would properly be asked to show your ticket, and you would gladly and
proudly do so, for you have bought and paid for that seat. The person in
your seat would also be asked for a ticket, which they would not be able to
produce. They would be called "gate crashers" and they would properly be

Now in this huge stadium called the USA we have had millions of gate

checking at the door. We have asked security to lock the back doors.
Security has failed us. They are still looking the other way. They are

In "section AZ", of "Stadium USA", we have had enough of the
failures of Security. We have decided to do our own ticket checking, and
properly remove those who do not have tickets. Now it seems very strange to
me that so many people in the other 49 "sections", and even many in our own
"section" do not want tickets checked, or even to be asked to show their
ticket! Even the head of Security is chastising us, while not doing his own
job which he has sworn to do.

My own ticket has been bought and paid for, so I am proudly going to
show it when asked to do so. I have a right to my seat, and I want the gate
crashers to be asked to show their tickets too. The only reason that I can
imagine anyone objecting to being asked for their ticket is that they are in
favor of gate crashing, and all of the illegal activities that go with it,
such as drug smuggling, gang wars, murder, human smuggling for profit, and
many more illegal and inhumane acts that we are trying to prevent with our
new legislation.

Is that what I am hearing from all of the protestors such as Phoenix
Mayor Gordon, US Rep. Grijalva, even President Obama? If you are not in
favor of showing tickets, (proof of citizenship, passport, green card, or
other legal document) when asked, as I would do proudly, then you must be
condoning those illegal activities."

The 9th Annual Gering Arts Festival is bigger than ever!

The Gering Merchants Association is pleased to announce the 9th Annual Gering Arts Festival, to be held Saturday, June 12th, in Gering's Legion Park.

"We have an exciting line-up of local and regional artists, as well as local and regional live performers this year, said Gering Merchant president, Darlene Tagler. "We are really excited about the number of artists showing, which has grown to more than thirty-five individuals this year."

In addition, professional puppeteer Bob Aiken of Estes Park, Colorado, will be making two appearances as Bruiser the Ragdog in 45-minute walkabouts, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively, giving kids of all ages the opportunity to talk to and pet Bruiser.

Later in the day, Aiken's puppet work will be part of the main stage lineup at 3:00 p.m on the bandshell. The final performance of the day features the popular local band, Money Shot, at 5 p.m..

Aside from the many booths featuring painters, sculptors, photographers and metalworkers, Gering's Legion Park will play host to the Los Guadalupanos Dancers, Hair Sculpture Performances by Roots Salon, readings and songs by local writers Tim Nolting and Deb Carpenter Nolting, music by Timothy Ostdiek, Prairie Friends, Green Valley Homesteaders, the Hebbert Family Singers, and more.

Food vendors will be stationed in the park throughout the day. A sidewalk chalk art contest will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a grand prize award of $100 cash. All entertainment is free and open to the public.

Day two without Joyce... Having a good, dependable Secretary/Receptionist is an important asset to a company and we are blessed to have Joyce! We hope she's having a blast on vacation.

We went over our sales report beginning when Steve started and we are just over $5K. Considering all the training we covered and the fact that your first two weeks is a building and learning period, I am very happy with the progress thus far.

I believe it was Henry Ford that once said, "Let's make progress our product."

That's very similar to our website design processes... We strive to make progress constantly because building a website is a developmental process. It seems at times though that some sites are never ending. One of those is Exclusive Livestock but that's because of the huge potential it carries and the fact that it is a brand new venture into uncharted territory. The best thing is the team we have behind Exclusive Livestock. One is hard pressed to find a better group to work with.

With each day that passes, Steve is gaining more knowledge and confidence in the products and services that we offer here at Hale Multimedia. The more he does on his own, the more I can work on our other businesses like Exclusive Livestock and Rental History.

In fact, I might be moving to a different office so that I can get more administrative work and programming done. There's just too much going on in the Sales office, which is a good thing! I'll probably move to Suite E. (in our current office at 2013 Broadway)

Steve has been making some great calls. We have an appt with CLIC Ministries set for tomorrow. I am always excited to help Christian Ministries with their websites. There is so much you can do once you establish a web presence.

We finished the new website redesign for Oregon Trail Wagon Train and implemented online ticket sales for their 3rd of July Festival.

It's only been a week since Steve came on board and he has already landed some great appointments that are paying off.

We met with Valerie Cox, Chiropractor at her office in the Western Plains business center in Scottsbluff. She became a sponsor of 1bestsearch.com our local search engine. Congrats and welcome Valerie! Good job Steve.

Another appointment was with a wonderful Christian lady that has been in business in Scottsbluff for 28 years I believe... Marie's Embroidery on Broadway. We just love to encourage everyone to do business with Marie. Her prices are the best I have found and her service of 28 years speaks for itself. She doesn't even charge a digitizing fee like everyone else and her shirts are priced near wholesale. When you see us all wearing new shirts with our Hale Multimedia logo on it, you will know it's from Marie's!

We also met with Nebraska Popcorn and discovered that they need prayers for their equipment. Replacement costs are high and we're hoping for a solution so that we can keep Nebraska Popcorn around for all of us to enjoy.

Steve is great on the phone and it became obvious that we needed another phone line installed by Allo. They came over and put in a new line right away. We are so glad that we have a local phone company to serve us!

We also have a lunch meeting to discuss RentalHistory.net with some local Property Owners tomorrow. I'll post more on this then.

Exclusive Livestock is getting a facelift. I had way too many designs and pages and needed to really simplify things. I posted a new home page this morning but I still have to simplify the subpages now that I have all of our thoughts and structure rethought again. I know this process is taking time, but we believe this is a business that is going to be around for a long time. I really appreciate the patience our partners have shown in this developmental process.

I also took a little time to visit Grace at Riverview Golf Course to see if we could help them promote their business online. I think it would be fun to get some great photos and put together a really nice looking website for them. We'll see what happens.

Bluffs Vision has been a client since 2007 and they recently voted to upgrade their level of control on their website so we met for our initial training session today.

It's Day 7 in our New Era at Hale Multimedia and the progress is going very well.

The new website will be revealed this week sometime and like I said before... the new design is so much cleaner and simpler. The old website has too much information on some of the pages. We have learned that we can still get all the info on the website, it's just a lot cleaner and easier to read than before. Stay tuned for the announcement.

We have several other large projects launching soon as well...

Exclusive Livestock LLC is getting a fresh look, better organization and cleaner navigation.
RentalHistory.net is coming along and will launch June 1st, 2010.
Star Legacy Foundation has been proofed and we are waiting for more input from Shauna.
Clemens Carpet had tons of photos added to their new website by Patrick.
Patrick also finished off Oregon Trail Baptist Association's new website.
Rive LLC is a beautiful new website that Andi is pretty much buried in right now.

There are other projects in the works as well, but those are some of the bigger ones.

We did a lot of training on proposal creation with Steve today. As we work through our patented 5 point Sales Management System we constantly discover new techniques to improve the process. One of the key discoveries was in our process of creating the proposals.

Steve is doing a great job setting up the appointments, like the one with Turtle Moon this morning. We had a very nice visit with Thuvan. We are hoping that we can help Turtle Moon to sell their cool stuff online. Have you ever visited this little store in the Mall? It's really cool. Check it out at The Monument Mall in Scottsbluff! Tell them that you are looking forward to seeing their new website online! We have not contracted with them yet, but we are looking forward to helping Turtle Moon if they decide to move forward.

We also had a nice conversation with Stephanie at the Goshen County Fairgrounds. We would love to be able to create a website for that wonderful facility they have there! We do enjoy the Fair sites... check out www.scottsbluffcountyfair.com for one that we have done.

Andi worked really hard all day to get the invoices prepared for the month and finished them up around 10pm. After that we finally went home and went over all the numbers for the month and prayed over the whole situation. We pray for blessing on our customers who owe us money, as we know times are tough. We will work with anyone on their bill, so if you owe us and need a payment arrangement, just let us know! We are easy to get along with here at Hale Multimedia.

We are looking forward to every day with enthusiasm! Thank you Lord for all you have given us.

It is Day 6 in our New Era at Hale Multimedia.

There are several things that we are doing differently now in this new era that began on Tuesday when Steve Taffe came on board as our very first Director of Business Development. Steve is a good fit at Hale Multimedia as we share many similar values and work ethics. One thing I wanted to implement at work was more prayer, at least to start each day. That was a natural transition for us since we all know the power of prayer. We pray daily because we love God and value His guidance, not to impress anyone like one liberal facebooker in my friends list accused Christians of doing. It's not about us! We understand that and just want to do whatever we can to serve Him.

Our service at Bethel Baptist was a special treat today as Toby Leafgreen and family led worship and gave the message from God's Word ... even with the computer crash!

Awana at Zion was fun today too! I had the kids play kickball indoors but it wad them against all the leaders! Great time and no injuries. Now it is time to get Lexi to Youth Group back at Bethel.

Thank you for this day Lord. Thank you for everything!

Our long standing company meeting at Arby's kicked off with mom offering our opening prayer. Thank you mother! Present were Howard Hale, Pat Hale, Brian Hale, Andi Hale, James Soundsleeper and Joyce Lana.

We followed our agenda and found nothing unusual to report in the areas of collections, sales, production etc. We did however cover our newest project fairly extensively... that's RentalHistory.net. This seems to have a lot of local backing already. We voted to roll full steam ahead on this one right now. Launch is officially June 1st, but we are going to do lots of preliminary marketing and advertising promotion that will get everyone excited for the launch.

James and I came back to the office to finalize the tri-fold brochures and business cards for RentalHistory.net. We also investigated the process of getting a toll free 1 800 number. Great progress on the print media... the order should be out by Monday. One week from Monday is May 3. That will give us the month of May to really promote it and get in front of Realtor Associations of Landlord Associations.

More on all this later, let's get to work! lol
