The 9th Annual Gering Arts Festival is bigger than ever!
The Gering Merchants Association is pleased to announce the 9th Annual Gering Arts Festival, to be held Saturday, June 12th, in Gering's Legion Park.
"We have an exciting line-up of local and regional artists, as well as local and regional live performers this year, said Gering Merchant president, Darlene Tagler. "We are really excited about the number of artists showing, which has grown to more than thirty-five individuals this year."
In addition, professional puppeteer Bob Aiken of Estes Park, Colorado, will be making two appearances as Bruiser the Ragdog in 45-minute walkabouts, at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively, giving kids of all ages the opportunity to talk to and pet Bruiser.
Later in the day, Aiken's puppet work will be part of the main stage lineup at 3:00 p.m on the bandshell. The final performance of the day features the popular local band, Money Shot, at 5 p.m..
Aside from the many booths featuring painters, sculptors, photographers and metalworkers, Gering's Legion Park will play host to the Los Guadalupanos Dancers, Hair Sculpture Performances by Roots Salon, readings and songs by local writers Tim Nolting and Deb Carpenter Nolting, music by Timothy Ostdiek, Prairie Friends, Green Valley Homesteaders, the Hebbert Family Singers, and more.
Food vendors will be stationed in the park throughout the day. A sidewalk chalk art contest will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a grand prize award of $100 cash. All entertainment is free and open to the public.
The Ninth Annual Gering Arts Festival is sponsored by the Gering Merchants Association. It will be held on Saturday, June 12th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
